INTRODUCTION
PageMaker 7.0 is one of the best and popular Desktop Publishing Designing Program developed by Adobe Corporation in USA. It is specially used in page designing. Today is popular in press and printing jobs with the help of this program, we can create any kinds of Designing like Visiting cards, Identity card, advertisement, Logo, Brochures, News papers and different articles etc. It is quite easy with its leading, tracking, set with features to adjust the text and to make publication
designing.

Adobe PageMaker is page laying or page composition (Desktop publishing) software that automates all the steps developing a printed document. Composition is the process of laying out text and graphics typography, line boxes pictures, drawing and colors on a page. PageMaker is considered by many industries experts and by many users to be one of most functional, experts system available for the design and composition of document.
The PageMaker demonstrated in 1985. The latest generation of PageMaker is 6.5 improvements In 1996. It is now an extremely powerful desktop publishing and graphics tool, made even more significant by graphics designers and artists, technical writers and illustrators, corporate communications departments, marketing groups, newspapers, magazines, and book publishers.
PageMaker includes such features as multiple master pages, automatic layout adjustment and text graphic frame to help you achieve the look you want quickly. Multiple master pages allow you to specify and apply different page designs, such as margins and columns within a single publication. Use it to create a variety of documents, from a several page brochure to a complex report of up to 999 pages. PageMaker automatically repositions resizes and re-flows text blocks, frames and graphics when you alter columns orientation or master pages and you can quickly lay out your publication by creating frames to hold text and graphics.

How to open PageMaker 70?
Steps:
1. Click on start button.
2. Choose programs.
3. Choose Adobe then click on Adobe PageMaker 70.
Or,
1. Click on start button.
2. Click on run command.
3. Type �PM70�.
4. Click on ok button.

How to create new document?
CREATING A NEW DOCUMENT:
Creating a new document is similar to taping a clean shut of page paper to your drawing board, before you begin towards you must tell page maker something about the paper such as the margins specifications, paper size.
Follow these steps to create a new document.
1. Click on file menu.
2. Click on new command.
3. Then document set up dialog box will appear.

1. Page size:
Indicates the size of paper for the document based on the printer you have selected.

2. Dimensions:
This option indicates the width and height of the paper specified in the page list box. Enter your own dimension here to define a custom page size.

3. Orientation:
The default orientation is tall (also called portrait), wide orientation turns the page 90�0 (also called Landscape)

4. Start page:
This option indicates which page number from you want to start. If you want to your first number to be 10 and second page will be 11 and so on enter in the text box.

5. Options
Remove the tick mark from double sided, if you want to create one sided design.

6. Margin:
The default margins for a new document will display if you want to change as your wish you can change margin in the left, right, top and bottom box.

7. Number of page:
When you create a new document PageMaker�s set the number of pages. You can enter any number of pages up to 999 in the box.
About the tool bars:
In PageMaker there are 14 types of toolbars found in the toolbar which are use to create, edit, move, view, found etc of your document.
How to Display or Hide the toolbox?
 From the Window menu and choose Show Tools or Hide Tools to display or hide the toolbox.

1. Pointer tool:
This tool is use to move the selected items one location to another location, delete the selected items and Resize the size of the text blocks, graphics and selected items. Pick the pointer tool and click over the text, object, picture etc then drag inside or outside to resize (to increase or decrease) the size of the object or picture.

Note:
Double click on the arrow tool or pointer tool to set the different types of PageMaker prefer menu setting like measurement, Nepali typing, Graphic display, Guide options etc.

2. Text tool:
This tool is used for to make the text area by dragging our mouse in the document for type the text. Use text tool to type, select, and edit text. Pick up the text tool and drag in the text area of the PageMaker then start type. To change the font and any font effects choose this tool and select the text.

Note:
Double click on the text tool to set the different types of font setting like color, bold, underline font size

3. Rotate tool:
This tool is use to rotate the selected items in any direction or angle, as your wish. Pick up the rotate tool and click over the any point of the object and rotate it in any angle as you need.

4. Crop tool:
This tool is use to crop or hide and show the unnecessary part of the pictures or graphics. Select crop tool then drag the mouse inside the graphics area to hide the unnecessary part of graphic and if you want to show the cropping sides then click over the part with crop tool and drag out side of the graphic.
How to crop the picture?
Steps:
1. First of all press ctrl + D (Place)
2. Chose the any one picture or image from the computer folder
3. Click on the open button.
4. Now drag your mouse to place or insert the picture.
5. Select the crop tool.
6. Now drag your mouse on the picture from the selection point to cut the unwanted part of the picture.

5. Diagonal Line:
This tool is use to draw a diagonal or straight line. Use diagonal line tool to draw straight lines or diagonal lines in any direction. Click over the diagonal line tool and drag on the page where you want to draw.

6. Perpendicular line tool:
This tool is use to draw a straight horizontal and perpendicular or vertical straight line. Click over the perpendicular line tool and drag on the page, where you want to draw line.

7. Ellipse tool:
This tool is use to draw an ellipse or oval shape and circle. Pick up the ellipse tool and drag it in the page where you need. If you want to create full circle then press shift key and drag it on the page.


8. Frame Ellipse tool:
This tool is use to draw a circle frame, ellipse frame or oval frame. Use ellipse frame tool to create a circular or oval placeholder for text and graphics. Pick up the ellipse frame tool and drag it in the page, where you need. If you want to create full circle then press the shift key and drag it.

9. Rectangle box:
This tool is use to draw a rectangle box or a square shape. Use rectangle tool to draw rectangles and squares boxes. Pick up the rectangle box tool and drag the mouse where you want to draw the rectangles if you press the shift key at the drawing time the rectangle become square.

10. Polygon tool:
This tool is use to draw a polygon (a figure of more than four lines) shape. Use polygon tool to draw basic polygons. Pick up the polygon tool and drag on the page. If you want to change the polygon shape then double click on the tool. Polygon setting dialog box will appear from this dialog box set the polygon shape and click over the ok button.

11. Polygon frame:
This tool is use to draw a polygon frame. Use polygon frame tool to create a polygonal placeholder for text and graphics. Click on the polygon frame and drag on the page if you want to change the polygon shape then double click on the tool. Then frame option dialog box will appear. In this dialog box set the polygon, where you want to position the text finally click over the ok button.

12. Found tool (Hand tool)
This tool is use to found or move page or document. Use hand tool to scroll the page or to preview and test hyperlinks. Pick up the hand tool and drag the page, as you want to move or press the alt key and drag mouse.

13. Zoom tool:
This tool is use to increase and decrease our document view size. Pick the zoom tool and click over the any items, which you want to magnify or reduce. To decrease document view size click your mouse with holding �Ctrl� key.

14.  Rectangle frame:
Use rectangle frame tool to create a rectangular placeholder for text and graphics. Pick up the rectangle frame tool and drag anywhere of the page and type text in side the rectangle box. If you press the shift key at the drawing time the rectangle become square.

How to create a border?
Steps:
1. Make rectangle box with boundary.
2. Press ctrl + J from keyboard.
3. Fill the color and line color.
4. Make an auto shape from WinWord.
5. Copy that shape and paste it in the PageMaker.
6. Now set that auto shape in the boundary.
7. Press ctrl + c from keyboard.
8. Click on the edit menu.
9. Click on �paste multiple� command.
10. Now set the paste properties.
11. Click on ok button.
12. In this way go on making border in all of the boundary.
13. After completing the border press ctrl + A from keyboard to select all
14. Finally press ctrl + G from keyboard to group your border.

About the control palette:
In the PageMaker there are 3 types of control palette. To hide and show the control palette click on the window menu the click on the hide / show control palette option or to show and hide the control palette of text press Ctrl +�. They are as following:

Character:
1. Font button: This button is used to change the font face click over the font button then choose any font face as you need.

2. Font Size: This button is used to change the font size as you like Click over the font size button and choose any size as you need.

3. Track: This option is used to change the font track as Normal, loose, very loose tight and very tight

4. Kerning option: This button is used to increase or decrease the character spacing horizontally in 0.01 ranges.

5. Normal (Ctrl +Shift + Space): To change the font style into normal.
a. Select the font which style you want to change into normal.
b. Click over the normal button or press Ctrl + Shift + Space.

6. Bold (Ctrl + Shift + B): This button is used to change the normal font into bold (blackness).
a. Select the font and click over the bold button or press Ctrl + Shift + B.

7.  Italic (Ctrl + Shift + I): This option is used to change the normal text into italic.
a. Select the font and click over the italic button or press Ctrl + shift + I.

8. Reverse (Ctrl +Shift+ V): This button is used to change the font in to white color.
a. Select the text and choose the Reverse button or press the Ctrl + Shift + V.
